the only way we find alternatives is to make them profitable. At $2 or even $3, it's not profitable. See T.Bone Pickens... he pulled out of his ideas of alternative energy because gas prices dropped and his plan was going to lose him millions.

Eight-dollar gas will be a rude awakening for those who voted for "change". Whoops, who knew that would happen? Now the energy bill is being rushed through will all kinds of wonderful changes. Why "wonderful"? Because the annointed one tells us so.

No doubt.... Gas prices are way too high - I hope REGARDLESS of fuel prices that ALTERNATIVES continue to grow and take more of a market share... I want a electric car, mainly because it is CLEANER and CHEAPER to operate compared to a gas powered car.... The other thing is I am TIRED OF SENDING MY HARD EARNED CASH TO CROOKS AND TERRORISTS....

NOT BECAUSE IT IS RAISING SLOWLY BUT BECAUSE HE SUPPORTS THE HIGHER PRICE OF GASOLINE, WHICH HE HAS SAID A NUMBER OF TIMES.

Conservation is the best thing we can do. We still need to implement a fast track to alternative fuels and energy to be come energy independent from foreign support, big oil companies and local utilities monopoly.

"... all he has to do is announce that all oil drilling in the United States, including on shore, offshore and in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, is a priority. Then, start announcing how many new wells start producing each month ..."
I wonder if the writer has ANY clue of what countries have the most reserves to even TRAY and produce? The US will NEVER be able to support it's petroleum on it's own use without alternatives.

Gas prices are noticed and felt more quickly. You can't rush something as visible as that. Other things can be a "rush and spend" deal, and the general public doesn't see it so easily, until it's too late. Gas prices suffering is like the frog in pot of water.

I think that as much as people resent the price increases (human nature), what really upsets them that 60 % of the increase is due to specualtors.

yes it is time to stop
conserve gas by driving more gently, keep your car maintained, carry the minimum weight on cars
be pro-active in pushing our congress and senate to support alternative energy including wind, solar, geothermal, and nuclear as well as push for off-shore drilling
drilling our own oil is the quickest way to decrease oil prices in the short term while the wind, solar, and geothermal energy sources will only provide a small and distant future solution.

Obama could care less what the price is. He doesn't have to pump and buy it. Even if he did his salary is set for life and could care less about the working man. Change doesn't mean anything if nothing backs it up.

This "article" is not a fact-based report -- it is someone's opinion. He is projecting what he thinks could happen if gas prices keep going higher and are sustained long term. He is preying on the reader's fear of higher gas prices, increased taxes and dying in a fiery car crash. That's sensationalism.
BTW, $1 per gallon for gas? Gas was $1 per gallon back in 1994. What in this world has not raised in price in the past 15 years? We can't possibly expect to pay the same price for gas as we did 15 years ago. Be realistic.

Must have something to do with "change you can believe in" THe only thing is people are to stupid to understand that "Change" is not always a good thing. $4 a gallon gas is what put the enconmy is the sorry state that what it is right now. Any one that would thing $4 a gallon gas is ok, shouldn't be running this country... I know he donesn't have to pay for the gas in the car, plane and other things he uses... the tax payers pick up the tab so, why whould he care if it goes up or not?
