Every so often I would decide to take a country road or rather a state route road instead of the interstate. I would get off at one exit and get back on at the next exit.

I could take a slower way, but choose only to go that way when the weather makes the other risky, as it is time consuming.

The freeway was the longest distance but shortest time when there wasn't a tieup. I usually took one of the sidestreet routes - less problems, shorter, only about 5 min. longer.

I have about 8 different routes, I use each one depending on traffic, weather and the cheapest Gas. That is one of the reasons I use gas buddy .

After I get my coffee from Tim Hortons, I take a small detour just to kill a bit of time so it does not look so obvious that I have nothing better to do than show up to work fourty minutes early...I enjoy it anyways checking out new construction along the way...

Its 5 miles and never takes more than 20 minutes here in Oklahoma City. Much better than the 20 miles on Interstate I drove in Chicago every day.
