It's not only possible, but realistic to expect it. Demand is rising. Supply is declining. Hurricanes will affect production. Geopolitical events will affect it. Venezuela is nationalizing production.

It would be most likely if we do a unilateral pullout from Iraq.

I think these temporary lower prices are just a ploy by the oil monopolies to keep their republican Friends in control of the government

Let's see. The Arabian oil company has four times the production capacity of Exxon, the Iranian oil company is more than three times as big, even the Mexican oil company is twice as big as Exxon as is the Venezuelan company. Given the turmoil in those countries, anything is possible.

ə i'd say 40% probability in the next five years, 75% in the next ten. i also feel, however, that within two decades we will be forced to end most oil imports as the muslim countries likely will stop selling to us in retaliation for our anti-terrorism programs. ə

It depends on demand. If people stop driving gas hogs or walk more, the price could go down.

Sure. The usage rates of China and India are rising. Terrorists are desperate to wreak any havoc possible. A couple more powerful Gulf of Mexico hurricanes or refinery accidents could do it.
