To assist in saving lives Pennsylvania's DOT launched two initiatives: the Yellow Dot and Emergency Contact Information programs.

""Both of these programs speak for people when they can't speak for themselves,so medical concerns can be addressed and contacts can be reached as quickly as possible," Corbett said. "When someone is in a crash or they find themselves in an emergency situation, it's critical that emergency responders quickly find out as much as they can about the victim," said Governor Tom Corbett.

interesting concept and a great idea. While I can add this information into my own vehicle, it is nice to see that other states have made it easier to recognize when the information is already there.

Kudos to PennDOT programs aimed at saving lives, knowing important medical information quickly can save lives. There are conditions that people have that first responders need to know so they can treat them correctly. Now where did that yellow sticker go and isn't Kudos a snack bar?
Whatever the size or shape of the vehicle, vehicle manufactures Produce and the population ‘Drives’ vehicles with high MPG, are very safe, reliable, have a ‘reasonable’ cost and a good ‘value’ for the money.
The price of fuel at the pump is too high!

medical alert necklaces, bracelets & vehicle med alert window stickers have been around for many years for those with significant known medical problems. medical responders generally know to look for those ID's. Law enforcement sometimes doesn't seem to be as alert for those ID's. I've had them call into the Emer. Dept. because someone was acting peculiar & they had to be asked if they looked for a medical alert like a bracelet or a sticker on the vehicle. When they looked it was right where it was suppose to be. They also have alert ID cards in the wallet as well. So I think both the yellow dot & the computerized version need to be in place. When they call in a name the info would be seen by the dispatcher who should alert the on scene personnel.
