Define area. In my six square mile community there are eight, all closed between 1978-1992. Three remain.

A couple have closed in the past few months. Both Citgo, oddly enough.

One seemed to have been a rescue attempt that was tossed aside when a nearby Philips 66 became a Citgo, the other tried to price themselves as a premium station despite having the Citgo name.

A Chevron closed in north Fort Worth (Keller) about 3 months ago...right across the street from a Shell that historically had the highest prices in the area. Everything has been torn down - you wouldn't even know there had been a gas station there just driving by.

Yes. Rather than maintenance their tanks several are now only providing repair services and inspections.

Two that closed about 3 to 6 months ago have yet to re-open. One was a Mobile station that we see folks using the lot to sell carpets. And another is a Shell that now has a auction sign up for the property.
